Business Analyst

Synthon is a Dutch pharmaceutical company which develops and manufactures generic human medicines. Expanding its business activities, Synthon is also engaged in the research and development of biotechnology-based medicines. Synthon’s head office is in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and the company has affiliates in nine countries abroad. The company employs around 1.400 staff of whom over 380 are based in Nijmegen. Synthon products are licensed out to third parties and are marketed worldwide. The company culture is characterized by a determined and entrepreneurial spirit.

Department: Global Strategic Portfolio Management is key in Synthon’s selection process for new pharmaceuticals. The department is also responsible for the strategic planning process and for business reviews of the pipeline products.

Related to Synthon’s ambitions for growth and expansion they constantly have to make the right business decisions that allow them to enter the market with new products at the earliest opportunity. You analyze data related to Synthon’s portfolio, trends in R&D, forecasts and sales of (potential) pharmaceutical products on a global basis. You interpret and analyze the collected data, advise relevant parties and develop reports to support strategic decision making. You keep track on developments in the pharmaceutical industry whilst focusing mainly on the specialty pharmaceuticals and the generic industry. You will make reports and presentations containing SWOT analyses and return on investment assessments. Also you will recommend on several topics including M&A activities, review of pipeline products and strategic planning. You will report to the Vice President Global Strategic Portfolio Management.

• a Master degree in business administration or business economics;
• at least five years of relevant experience in market analyses;
• well developed data modelling and analysis techniques;
• outstanding command of the English language (written and spoken);
• experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be preferred.

You have excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. You are used to chair meetings and giving presentations to senior stakeholders including the executive board. Your strong analytical skills give you the strength to oversee a lot of complex information and translate it into clear overviews and recommendations. You are an independent personality and you know how to collect relevant data and process them into orderly facts, figures and graphs.
